Trying Times

Unfortunately, all fifty states have been affected by Covid-19, Corona virus.

It is a very uncertain time with regrettably no sure end in sight.

Thankfully, there have been strategies and protocols put in place in order to keep everyone as safe as possible as we journey through this period of distress.

However, these protocols and strategies only work as long as we are all behaving like responsible citizens and doing our part to keep this fast spreading virus at bay  as much as possible.

Even though our primary avenue of medical care is chiropractics, Arrowhead Clinic Riverdale cares about all aspects of our fellow citizens health.

That is why we have compiled 5 suggestions for staying healthy during the coronavirus pandemic.

1. Social Distancing

What makes coronavirus so frightening is how fast it is able to spread.

Within a matter of weeks it has spread from the Pacific ocean all the way to the Atlantic.

It is highly contagious and it spreads from person to person.

That is why it has been suggested that we limit person to person contact as much as physically possible.

In certain parts of the country, drastic measures have been enforced to ensure that people don’t spread the virus.

Restaurants and bars have been temporarily closed.

Movie showings and concerts have been cancelled.

Even professional sports in the middle of a season have been shut down.

However, all this is for naught if people do not adapt to the social distancing mindset.

We can practice this here in Riverdale just as easily as anywhere else.

Only go out in public if it is necessary, such as grocery runs or for medical attention.

It is recommended that persons stay around six feet away from each other in order to prevent contamination.

Handwashing

2. Frequent Hand Washing

Like any other sickness, it is important for one to stay as clean as possible.

Frequent hand washing has been recommended in order to combat the spread of coronavirus.

If you have access to hand sanitizing products, these will also be beneficial in maintaining proper health.

However, it has been said that old fashioned soap and water will be just as effective in keeping yourself healthy as hand sanitizer will.

Washing ones hands this way has even been known to be more effective.

Yoga

3. Nutrition and Exercise

An important thing to remember is that coronavirus is simply the current flavor of the week.

Just because theres a new kid in town, does not mean the old bullies have gone away.

You are just as liable to contract the flu or a cold now as you ever have been.

That is why it is imperative that you keep up healthy lifestyle habits.

Eat a well balanced diet consisting of fruits, vegetables and proteins in order to give your body the necessary nutrients it needs now more than ever.

Along the same lines, exercise will also be helpful in keeping you as healthy as possible.

Not only will exercising keep you in good health, it is also a psychological tool that you can use.

Exercising releases endorphins that will help combat anxiety and other negative emotions, which if we are honest there is a surplus of currently.

Sneeze

4. Covering Your Mouth

Unless you live alone, it is not realistic for most of us to practice complete social distancing.

Many of us live with family or roommates.

We will come in contact with other people at some point.

Following the golden rule, we need to treat them as we want to be treated.

Meaning, we don’t want them to get us sick, and they don’t want us to get them sick.

An action as simple as covering your mouth when you sneeze or cough, followed by a thorough hand washing, will significantly help keep contamination to a minimum.

5. Staying Informed

There is still a lot to be learned about the coronavirus.

The game is still relatively early on.

Due to the quick spreading nature of the virus, things can change almost instantly.

That is why it is so important to keep yourself updated on what it is occurring in the world, country, and in our local area.

Monitor the news regularly and check in with the CDC to receive updates on the spread of the virus and new information on staying safe.

6. Be a good citizen

In times of uncertainty, it is a temptation to want to ensure ones own safety above all else.

This can often be seen of hoarding supplies at the detriment to others.

We all need to work together in order to get through this crisis.

Only buy as much as you need from the stores.

It is tempting to want to get more than enough, but often times ones more than enough is not enough for someone else.

There should be more than enough supplies to go around if we all consume responsibly.

Conclusion

Health is one of the most important aspects of life that we all take for granted.

Sometimes it takes a major crisis such as this in order to make us all truly appreciate it.

If we play it smart and play it safe, we should be able to get through this trying time with as limited damage as possible.

We need to do whatever it takes to ensure we stay healthy during the coronavirus pandemic.

One such way to maintain good health is by visiting a chiropractic clinic.

As previously mentioned, just because coronavirus is on the scene that does not mean all preexisting health concerns have gone away.

If you find yourself experiencing physical pain, come and visit us at Arrowhead Clinic Riverdale.

We will come along side you to determine and treat any physical conditions you may have.
