Strange, Yet Boring Times

These are strange times.

The threat of coronavirus has brought many aspects of our every day life to a screeching halt.

In many places people are unable to go out to restaurants and bars, are unable to see a movie, are unable to watch their favorite sports teams.

They are even discouraged from visiting friends and family.

All this is being done in order to practice social distancing. What makes coronavirus unique among viruses is that it spreads so quickly.

That is why it is recommended that as many people keep their distance from others as possible.

This means spending as much time as possible in your own home.

Finding things to occupy ones time while practicing social distancing may be difficult for some.

Here at Arrowhead Clinic Valdosta, we want everyone to stay healthy and to see the threat of coronavirus dissipate as quickly as possible.

That is why we have compiled this list of ten activities to do while practicing social distancing.

1. Nature Adventures

One of the many benefits of a natural setting is that it is often removed from people.

Take this time to visit a park and enjoy the outdoors by yourself.

There may be other people where you are, however, there is also plenty of room for everyone to spread out and enjoy their time.

2. Catch Up On Your Housework

If you are stuck in the house for an extended period of time, why not be productive with it?

Take this time to make the most of the space you have by keeping it tidy and clean for future enjoyment.

This can mean anything form vacuuming the living room to finally cleaning out that junk drawer.

If nothing else, a tidy environment will allow you to more fully enjoy other more amusing activities.

3. Work from Home

If your place of business has closed down due to the spread of coronavirus, and you have the ability to work from home, this would be a wonderful way to spend your time.

Nothing makes the day go by quicker than eight hours of good productive work.

Not to mention, as well as providing something to do, you are getting paid for it as well.

4. Find a Hobby

Have you been meaning to pick up the old guitar again?

Have you always been fascinated by the idea of watercolors?

I can’t think of a better time to finally dig in and begin that new hobby that you’ve always meant to pick up.

Not only will the thrill of finding a new passion keep you interested for a few days, but you’ll pick up a new skill along the way.

5. Exercise

There are no excuses now.

You can’t rely on having to go to work, or taking the kids to school, or any other convenient out.

If you have been meaning to start exercising, now is the time to do it.

There are plenty of options for working out even if you don’t have any home exercise equipment.

There are countless video courses online that can walk you through aerobics, circuit training, or even yoga.

Why not give one of them a try?

6. Reach Out Electronically

Just because you are unable to physically see your friends doesn’t mean you have to drift.

More than likely they are in the same boat as you are.

Give them a ring or make a video call.

With less time distractions, you will more than likely be able to find some pretty effective or at least entertaining conversations.

If you are a gamer, this would also be a good time to meet some buddies online for a few rounds of whatever game you all happen to be in to.

7. Reconnect With Family

If you are currently living with your family this would be an ideal time to start spending more quality time.

Schedule a family game night or pick a movie series that you all want to watch together.

Take this time to forge some lasting memories you can remember when this pandemic has been long over.

8. Binge Watch Something

In a very strange way, this social distancing could prove to be something of a staycation.

You without a doubt work very hard at your job and would like nothing else but to be a bit lazy.

Why not take a day or so and finally catch up on that show everyone has been shaming you for not watching?

9. Catch Up On Your Reading

Television and electronic media are both wonderful things.

However, there are few things that can compete with a good book.

Why not take the time to find a cozy chair, grab a cup of your favorite hot beverage, and get lost in the pages of a good book.

10. Live Intentionally

This period with no distractions allows you the time to figure out things about yourself.

This could be dealing with a hang up you’ve been wanting to resolve, or something as simple as figuring out how you deal best with something.

Self discovery is never wasted time. Find yourself and your place in the world.

Self discovery does not have to be limited to the inner workings of your mind.

This could also relate to how your body physically responds to things.

Visit us at Arrowhead Clinic Valdosta for a free consultation.

Together, we will figure out what your specific needs are and the best way to fulfill them.
